John McClane, now barely an alcoholic and suspended from NYPD, was suddenly pulled back into chaos when a bomb exploded at the Bonwit Teller Department Store. A mysterious terrorist named Simon called the police and asked McLane to play a deadly game of "Simon Says" - if it fails, more bombs will explode. With the help of an electrician from Harlem, McLane is racing across New York, solving a dangerous puzzle while the threat is heating up. When a bomb went off in a subway station near the Federal Reserve, this mission turned into a fight to save the city.
